Mr Ford can afford to.. by maggiemae

Mr Ford can afford to..

rest now. He, Gerald Ford, was never elected to be president or vice-president but instead took office upon the resignation first of Spiro Agnew and then of Richard Nixon. As president, Ford tried to calm earlier controversies by granting former President Nixon a full pardon. Gerald Ford survived two assassination attempts; one by Charles Manson follower “Squeaky” Fromme and another by Sara Jane Moore a mere 17 days later. Ford is sculpted with his golden retriever “Liberty” who frequently shared the Oval Office.
As in my other presidential shots, there should be a motorbike visible. You can just see one here in the background.
Awesome shot

Welcome bikers too.......I have never seen that before how nice!
I remember Gerald Ford....trying to remember something about his wife.....slips my mind but feel there was a story there! Did she found some clinic or other? Betty Ford Clinic that's it...alcohol related perhaps. He has a very pretty place to stand under the trees!

Yes that's right, Pat @happypat ! I remember a film or documentary about her and she was always hiding bottles in the pantry and cupboards and being slightly slurred when meeting people. But the clinic is now very famous and does a lot of good.

@maggiemae I thought so, funny how something simple like a name tributes a memory.....not easy being a politicians wife!

The statue really dominates but you managed to slip in a bike. Nicely done.

I am enjoying all the statues too, through your eyes/photos. This one captured so well by you like the others you have photographed. I really appreciate that you are taking time to write a bit about each President as well. Love the sign above his head and the biker that you captured too. FAV
