Pancakes are not for breakfast! by maggiemae

Pancakes are not for breakfast!

A quick walk around the Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki on the West Coast, NZ while slurping a banana and strawberry smoothie. Our day was full with a 4 hour train ride up the Buller Gorge and a tour of an old Coal Mining area 600 metres high in the mountains. By Bus homewards to our hotel in Greymouth down through great coastal scenic beauty.
What a fabulous scene!

The west coast is beautiful. I can recall as if it were a month ago the birds flying along next to me walking in the ancient woodlands, watching with awe the crashing of waves coming up through the pancake rocks, panning for fools gold... the scenery is stunning there. Thank you for bringing the memories back.

That is gorgeous! If it were a bit wider (a big bit!) it would look like the Grand Canyon and Colorado River.

Fantastic layers of lava rock that look like elephant hide! A stunning scene that is enhanced by the river through it!

At a quick glance these pancake rocks seem to have faces. Maybe I'm just thinking of Mt Rushmore in the U.S. Enjoy your trip and thanks for sharing it with all of us!
