The old White Horse Hotel in Necks that still stands after 153 years! The teams of horses would stop there on the route - they had to be rested every 5 miles.
The wife of the landlord, Mrs Fisher raised 12 children in the tiny hotel while also catering for up to 14 guests at a time - all with no power or running water.
A new hotel was built across the road in 1925 and this hotel was abandoned but a group of people in 1990 stepped in and made it secure even if not habitable.
Great processing and interesting to hear the history. That Mrs Fisher must have bee amazing - 12 children and running the hotel! Thanks for sharing this information
Good that they haven't raised this old building to the ground. Lots of history there, how on earth she managed to fit all those kids inside plus visitors!
