I wish I were clever enough....

I would have really liked this shot. The sun setting and the cows munching. I don't like the sky or the big red flare on the barn. I'm not sure what I did wrong. I was driving and stopped, backed up and snapped a few shots. I was using a lens that I have never used with my camera. It's an old lens from my 35mm, supposedly compatible. Well, any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Live and learn.
I love the sun shining thru! I don't know much about lenses, but if this were my pic, I might have cloned the red thing out using picnik.com

@tabbycat Thanks, I haven't tried cloning yet. I'll see what I can do.

I think the exposure and POV of this image is fantastic!!

Not sure but going from my recent class- changing the aperture would help with the sky- you have f4.5 and if you could go to f11 or somewhere in that direction. I like the sun flare but if you dont, I would try picnic. Great composition and subject.

I agree with Jennifer, I think this photo is perfect the way it is! I like the sun coming through and the red tint it gives off this is just perfect if you ask me. I cant help on the lens since im still trying to know mine :P

This is a neat photo! I think I would have composed it so the sun was more off to the left instead of dead center. Beautiful farm scene and worth the stop, if you ask me!

I love the sun flare (if that's what you're talking about). great composition, too. nice job - even tho it didn't come out as planned.

I see that you have already cloned out the lens flare. Do you use a filter on the lens to protect it? I find that an inexpensive filter is my most common source of lens flare. If you take off the filter when you shoot high contrast pictures you might be able to avoid this. I assume you dislike the sky because it is overexposed and lack detail. This is difficult due to the extreme difference in light from the bright sky and shadowed barn. The scene exceeds the dynamic range of the camera's sensor. You could try taking more than one exposure. One like this and one much darker and merge the two together. (N)

@smithfamily Thank you for the great advice! You're right, I attempted to remove the flare. It's still there as a pink spot. I do have a cheap filter. I'm beginning to think filters are more of a burden than a help. I do like the idea of something between my lens and my clumsy world. Maybe I should splurge on a good one. I've spent no more than $15 on one. Can you recommend a good one? For everyday use.
