Dekalb County dedicated a new 9/11 memorial Sunday morning. A beam from the WTC is included but hasn't been permanently installed yet. By the time I got there late in the afternoon, I expected it to be deserted but there were many people stopping by. The variety surprised and moved me - old, young, from different races and places - all remembering that awful day and paying their respects. The place was totally silent.
