Burned to the ground last night. Such a huge loss for our community. Not just a normal hardware store, it was a place where you could find ANYTHING. And the people who work there know it all. You could go in with a broken faucet piece, and they'd have the exact part you needed for $2 so you wouldn't have to replace the entire thing. No telling how much of our house originated at Handy Hardware. We got our front porch swing there over 25 years ago. They can replace the building, but the inventory is another story. It took half a century to accumulate all the things in that store. So very sad to see it this way. A line of cars came by nonstop the whole time I was there. Everyone paying their respects. You could see it in their faces. A photo taken the last time I was in there is here: http://365project.org/margonaut/2012/2012-12-06
