The quilt that just came home. Realized I never posted a picture of the entire thing when it was finished. It's been traveling around with the American Quilters Society Modern Quilt Challenge exhibit.
@wiesnerbeth They're not straight at all, or intended to be, LOL! Although I think I did use the walking foot. Free-motion foot is just too hard to use for long lines.
@margonaut I don't have a walking got so that's probably where it all broke down for me. I'm struggling with how to quilt my twisted sisters quilt. I thought straight-ish lines but will probably go back to my usual meandering. Did you change thread colors or stub with just one?
WOW!. This is absolutely magnificent. What an incredible piece of art and quilting. I can not believe how gorgeous this is. How long did it take you to make it? So many questions in my mind. I love quilting but have never had the patience to do it. I've made several "comforters" that I've tied, not quilted. That is the extent of my patience and talent. How long was the traveling show and where all did it go? Again: WOW!!
@aglennc well, thank you. I don't remember how long it took to make it, not all that long compared to most of the things I make. Started the center in a Gwen Marston workshop, the queen of liberated quiltmaking. Added the borders using a quilt-as-you-go technique which made it really easy to quilt the smaller pieces before putting the entire thing together. @wiesnerbeth looks like I used black thread for the border quilting and a sort of peachy color in the center that worked pretty much like a neutral with all the different colors. Didn't change other than that. Here's the picture I posted last year before it was quite finished. http://365project.org/margonaut/2012/2013-07-20
