That is a fabulous idea! At my hometown library (Erie, Pennsylvania), you can check out a fishing rod and an art museum pass. But this goes well beyond!

@wiesnerbeth Oooh! I never really thought about the other things that might be available through the library. I should search their website a little more closely.

@margonaut The public library here checks out family backpacks -- they have field guides, maps, magnifying glasses and a state park pass. I want to do that in my library and include a fishing net. I just haven't quite figured out how to make it work.
