Kirking of the Tartans by margonaut

Kirking of the Tartans

Well that is fun! What exactly are they doing?

@wiesnerbeth It's a Scottish ritual (the Presbyterian church has its roots in Scotland) where the families carry in their tartans as a symbol of their devotion to God, and the tartans as "blessed" or "kirked". At least that's how I understand it. There's always a bagpiper to lead the way and lots of men in kilts. At our church we encourage people to wear a symbol of their homelands regardless of country. You might be able to see the banner on the right that I made from all the flags of the world.

How neat! I've heard of kirking of the tartans but was never sure what it is.
