My mother's credit cards

They all have my father's name on them, but some include a "Mrs..." as if she didn't have her own name.

Isn’t that crazy? My mom also had all hers in my dad’s name for a long long time.

@wiesnerbeth I don't think women were allowed to have their own accounts until the 70s! (My mother died in 1973) Shocking to think of it now.

@margonaut It is pretty shocking. My mom worked in a bank before she got married and she was always the one who balanced their checkbook — so odd to think that she couldn’t even get her own credit card.

Remember those metal credit cards! I remember being told sometime in the 70's to be sure to get credit in my own name, but I'm not sure my mom did until after my father died.
