@wiesnerbeth @eudora Ever since I discovered that my great-grandfather owned a bakery in DC, my sweet tooth has been kicking in. Blame it on genetics, ha ha! Remember my aunt who died of covid on Christmas Eve? Her husband died about 3 weeks later (also covid) and I was listening to some recordings from when my sister and I visited them in Sept of 2019. Sent me off an a quest to find family things online. Also found the church where my grandparents met in DC. It's still there.

@margonaut What church and where was the bakery? If we’re ever free to move about the country again, I’ll go up and look for them.

@wiesnerbeth The bakery was the Reisinger Bakery at 235 G St NW, which looks like it's now a parking garage on the campus of Georgetown. But I could be wrong, got a little disoriented on Google streetview. The church is Concordia German Evangelical Church (think it's just called the United Church now) in Foggy Bottom at the corner of G and 20th Streets. I'm going to have to come to DC myself and see if I can find the place where my grandmother grew up. I'm named after her, and she was a quilter! Looks like I'm going to have to give Ancestry more $... was only a member for a little while a couple of years ago.

@margonaut That is so cool! Do you have any of her quilts? Nick used to live in Georgetown and now lives across the bridge in Arlington. He’s always up for an adventure so we will check it out when I can drive again.
