but it has pretty cool blooms at this time of year. Would love to have it removed but not sure it's on my property. Also, there would be lots of blood-letting.
The flowers are pretty . . . what is it? My one set of grandparents did not have green thumbs. Their entire yard was filled with what we called “pricker weeds.” They finally planted a tree — which grew fantastically, I might add — and it turned out to be a sweet gum, which shed spikey balls all over the backyard. We were kids who went barefoot, so walking through the yard was like navigating a mine field.
@wiesnerbeth someone just posted about this plant on the nextdoor neighbor site, called it Mahonia. Making this note for myself so I won't forget. They say it is highly invasive and dangerously spiky (that much I knew!)
