stag beetle

Opened the door last night and this fella flew straight into me and landed on the black doormat. It's a terrible photo as we had to light it with a torch and flash to get it to show up at all. I have better photos of stag beetles because although apparently rare they often visit our garden however this is the best I could do last night.

Cool. I have never actually seen one, other than with a pint through it in a glass case.

Oh and they fly upright which is wierd.
