BLACKBIRD by markp

BLACKBIRD

Yes, I know three birds in a row. I was not planning on putting another bird up on here today. I had even been out and got some quite nice black and white shots. Once home though set up camera on tripod as I am after some decent shots of the Goldcrests and pair of Blackcaps that visit the feeders. This image just fell through the viewfinder and I liked it. At least its on a theme, Goldfinch, yellow plumage, Sparrowhawk, yellow eye- ring, and now the male Blackbird (Turdus merula) also featuring some striking yellow features. I promise to at least try not to have another bird tomorrow.
What a lovely shot although I have always felt a bit sorry for the Thrush family being lumbered with the "Turdus" generic name.

@steampowered Thanks Paul, yes it is rather an unfortunate bit of Latin, but at least they are very attractive and don't know we have given them a crap name.
