I took the Grandmonsters to a park in Warrington today, with the intentions of showing them the huge shoal of huge Koi carp in the pond, walk round the Hall, go round the children's Zoo, let them play on the slides etc and take todays picture. Going around the zoo, I heard a loud squawking which I did not immediately recognise, however as I saw the bird fly off I realised it was a green coloured Ring-necked parakeet which have naturalised around London and the south east, where I have seen them. I did not know they had spread as far north as Warrington. No chance for a photo. Later on, I returned to the zoo and heard the squawk again, searching round I found him high up in a tree. I took a few shots but he was high up against the light so no good. as I looked though the camera he moved and I lost him, looked and found him much lower down and spotted that he was not green, I got the shots I wanted and then found three zoo keepers next to me. Turns out he was one of theirs that had escaped in the morning and this was the first time they had seen him. He had returned to the aviary were his mate was, I left them fetching a cage and bait to try and catch him. Talking to the keepers, apparently the green one I had seen is a wild one. this Bad Boy is a subspecies and is an Indian Ringneck Parakeet ( Psittacula krameri manillensis)
@steampowered Thanks Paul , maybe he just got jealous of the free flying birds there, Peacocks, ducks, etc, stretched his wings and then went home to his child bride.
