Shortly after digging around in the undergrowth in the garden I found this little lovely hitching a ride on my body. He is a Harvestman type Spider, although it is hard to gauge his size from the photo, his body was only about 1/2 inch ( 12mm) long. However his longest legs were about 2 1/2 inches ( 62mm) long each, giving him a very large span. For those not into Spiders, what look like small legs on his head are in fact called chelicerae and are what he uses to catch his prey and to place near his mouth. His eye is also visible between his two front legs.
Best viewed large to appreciate his true beauty.
@steampowered Thank you very much Paul, what a wonderful colloquialism, I am sure heebie-jeebies would make a fabulous title for a picture. If I could think of the right subject.
