LIVER BIRD by markp

LIVER BIRD

The Royal Liver Building, at the Pier Head, Liverpool, opened in 1911, it was one of the very first buildings in the world to be built using reinforced concrete. On the very top of the twin towers live two of the mythical Liver Birds, one looking out over the city looking after the citizens. The other one, which we can see, looking out to sea watching over the sea farers. Legend has it that if the one of the Liver Birds were to fly away from the city of Liverpool, the city would cease to exist.
Lovely detail when viewed large.
