CAIRNGORM CLOUD by markp

CAIRNGORM CLOUD

This is Cairngorm Mountain in, yes you guessed, the Cairngorms. Not sure you will be able to see the detail but the small dark triangle just off centre near the bottom of the shot is the car parking area for the Skiing Centre. Heading off to the right is the track for the Funicular Railway, you might just be able to see that it is built up on stilts so it is still usable when it snows. However while I was in Aviemore it was at times buried under 13 feet of snow drifts. Almost dead centre of the shot, you might be able to see the train line with the train on it, it is casting a shadow, then the tunnel entrance. Above that is the Ptarmigan Restaurant at about 3,500 feet, this gives access to the skiing areas. The summit is not very clear in this shot but is in the clouds to the far right. I hope you can see this detail, if not sorry. Those clouds will have been dropping more snow up there.
My other album today has another local sight.

Slightly surreal feel to this but I love the processing

That's some serious snow - enjoyed reading about the area. Nice processing to your shot.
