This fly with very red eyes is a kind of Mosquito, as far as I know it does not have a common name, so we will have to go with ( Poecilobothrus nobilitatus ) instead. They breed in ponds or shallow water, so the white wriggly maggots crawling on the surface of this rotting windfall apple are not it's own young.
