LLANBADRIG CHURCH by markp

LLANBADRIG CHURCH

The Welsh name means Church of Saint Patrick. Local legends state that St Patrick was shipwrecked on Middle Mouse, the small island in the background. After he was rescued he founded a church here. This happened many many years ago, in 440 AD. The original wooden building was replaced by the present stone building around the 14th century.

Amongst its more well known visitors is His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who pronounced the site " the most peaceful spot on earth".
Very atmospheric capture.

For a moment I thought you had said, "Mickey Mouse"! What a tiny island and a gritty scene with its crosses. Your treatment is good for that!

@maggiemae Thank you Maggiemae, as you might guess from its name, the little island is one of three a few miles apart, just off the north coast of Anglesey. Of course the other two are East Mouse, and West Mouse.

@onewing Thank you Babs, yes this is Anglesey, the north coast, just around the corner from Camaes Bay. My parents live down there now , but I have been a very regular visitor down there since babyhood. Where about's were you ?
