LITTLE SHEPHERDESS by markp

LITTLE SHEPHERDESS

Story so far, Grandmonsters Willow and Kara, are out in Anglesey. I have taken them on a walk up a " mountain'.

We were walking down the path from yesterdays post, when Kara, the younger of the two said " Granddad, I want to stroke a sheep".
"You can't Kara, they will run away" I replied.

But she wasn't taking that for an answer. Time and time again, she kept repeating her request. Then we rounded a corner and there was a fork in the path. My intended route was to follow the path on the left.
However to the right the path went through a stile and into a large field. This field was full of sheep and lambs, quite large lambs.
I asked Kara if she still wanted to stroke a sheep. "Yes".
Okay, so I took them through the stile and into the field. "There you are, Kara, sheep. Go and see if they will let you stroke them" I said, " I will wait here."
And off she went, quite happily a long way across the field towards the sheep. Being only small, and moving fairly slowly, the sheep seemed more curious than worried as she approached them.
But they would not let her get close enough to stroke them, they just walked away. After several attempts she gave up and turned around and started her long trek back.
