STONECHAT by markp

STONECHAT

After another wet and at times a very wet night, Sunday morning felt a little bit warmer and nearly dry.
However the forecast for the coming week was not looking any different to what it had already been like. As I wasn't really equipped to deal with the weather I made the decision to cut short my trip and head for home. I dropped the wet tent, will have to dry it at home, and left the campsite. The ferry wasn't till dinner time so had a few hours left on Coll.
I had a drive around the island looking for photographic subjects.
I was surprised when the sun almost burst through the clouds, and I thought maybe I had made a mistake to leave. However by the time the ferry arrived it was wet again.

It is the first time, in many years of visiting Scotland, that I have been chased home early by the weather, and ironically the Isles of Coll and Tiree are amongst the sunniest places in the whole UK.

I will have to return another time.

More from Coll today here.......

What a shame. I'm sure you were looking forward to this trip and all that it held. I've enjoyed your photos despite the weather! The gentleness of a bird contrasted with the rusty wire really appeals to me here. fav
