Well this has been an interesting and successful few days.
As a camera club, Halton used to compete every year against a group of other camera clubs from around the North West. It's been a few years now since we entered, but we decided this year to start competing again. So on Saturday night we went off to this years host club in Warrington, with a selection of Open prints, Nature prints and DPI's. I had one of my Otter shots included.
Not really knowing what to expect or the standard required, we were shocked and delighted to finish second out of six clubs.
The winning club, Atherton have been in touch, and have asked if we are interested in a head to head competition against them early next year. That should be an interesting evening.
Now to Monday evening, and we had one of our regular club competitions. I had entered a few prints and I really liked a version of my Autumn Cruising image that I had posted last week. Unfortunately, it was not as well liked by our external judge, and didn't do very well.
However I did do better with some of my other images, embarrassingly so. All of todays posts came first in their category. My Sparrow came First in Nature, I also got 4th and 5th in Nature. I got first and second in Record, first and second in this months set subject, High Speed Photography. I got Second in Open Mono and a Commended in Open Colour.
Congratulations Mark, you did exceptionally well with your photos.
I'm relatively new to camera club competitions and have found it interesting to hear how the judges choose their favourites.
This one is a fabulous shot.
