Bottom left. Lovely Speckled Wood, I remember the first times I saw one when they first reached York.

@jesika2 Oh, have they been extending their range. No idea, when I first saw one of these in the garden, many many years ago. They are probably the commonest and most regular visitor though.

@markp must be 30+ years ago. One of our Yorkshire butterfly recorders said when he was young he had to go to Worcestershire to see them. Then one magical day in York Cemetery which doubles as a nature reserve we stopped counting at 1500. Can’t remember when exactly but certainly before we moved house in 1994.
