One of the themes for the Camera Club competitions this year is Sport. Now I don't normally do any sports photography. So while I am up in Scotland I went to the Highland Games, and I thought I would also go and see a game of this while I was up here. This is Shinty, now played mainly, but not exclusively, in the Highlands of Scotland. I suppose it is similar to Hockey, but it does have several important different rules, including as long as it only shoulder to shoulder, it is permissible to body charge someone away from the ball. Although looking at this, it seems some people have lower shoulders than others.
It looks quite a hard fast game, and was very entertaining to watch.
The home team, Newtonmore, in blue, are playing Glenurquhart, Newtonmore won 7-1.
