Lots of self sown Sunflowers in blossom in the garden at the moment. Here a Common Tiger Hover-fly, is enjoying the pollen. Look very closely and you can see his proboscis sucking up the pollen on the very end of the flower heads.

@gardencat Thanks Joanne, I think this is a female. There is an easy way to sex Hover-Flies. The males have much larger eyes which meet in the centre of the head. The females have smaller eyes which don't meet in the centre like this one.
The little flap is it's antenna, slightly different to a bees or butterfly. The fine hair coming off the antenna is called an arista.
