Another lovely woodpecker, this time a male Great Spotted Woodpecker. You can just about see the red patch on the top of his head which distinguishes him from the female.
Taken in the same area as the previous bird, he might be the partner of the lovely lady woodpecker featured there.
I took this shot at about ten to twelve, then he flew off. I think he returned about half an hour later. I am pretty sure it was the same bird.
