This might be Start Point Lighthouse on Sanday, but as far as we were concerned this was our Finish Point. This was as far North as we got on the island.
The lighthouse has a bit of history, it was first built in 1802, and in 1806 it was fitted with the first revolving light in Scotland by Robert Stevenson, the Grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson. In 1814, Sir Walter Scott visited, and in 1870 the tower was rebuilt and painted with its distinctive black and white vertical stripes.
Full story of a rather busy day in my main album today.
