Almost everyone in the world knows the House Sparrow. It was widespread across Europe, Russia and Asia, before being introduced to the Americas, Australia and many other places, making it the most widely distributed wild bird in the world.
This is its less common cousin, the Tree Sparrow, again mainly in Europe, Russia and Asia, although there is a smaller population in parts of the USA.
The easiest way to tell them apart is the chestnut brown head on the Tree Sparrow.
