This is quite a large moth I found asleep in the kitchen. I think it looks quite impressive but as of yet, I have not managed to find out just what he is.

@milaniet@gilbertwood@beryl@callymazoo@ziggy77 Thank you all for all your lovely comments and suggestions as to what his name might be. After some more research I think I have identified him. I think he is a Moth from the family Noctuidae, commonly called The Old Lady or sometimes, a Black Underwing ( Mormo maura). As well as matching up his wing patterns, it also has the red eyes. It normally flies during July and August and amongst its chosen food plants when a caterpillar are Ivy, Hawthorne, and Blackthorn, all of which I have plenty of around the garden.
