As well as their eight walking legs, spiders also have two appendages at the front of the body called pedipalps. These palps are used to help in feeding. In many species they are also used in mating, as there are special sex organs on them.
Spiders have various numbers of eyes, two, four, six or even eight, and some species have excellent vision.
@gardencat Haha, thanks Joanne. I think that might have to wait for another day. The sex organs and sexual habits and behaviour of spiders is intriguing, complex and very interesting.
I bet you didn't know that some species of spiders store stocks of sperm in their webs. We are heading into spider season now, so maybe I will revisit the subject again soon.
