This Damselfly appears to have taken up residence near the pond in my garden. He proved quite difficult to identify at first, his colours and patterns didn't seem to match any particular species. Then I discovered when they are freshly emerged from their water living stage their colours can take a while to fully deepen.
When that happened, I discovered that it was in fact a female Common Blue Damselfly. I think it must have spent its early life in the pond in the garden.
Lovely detail and very interesting information. I saw lots of colourless damselflies round the lake in the country park. I shall have to return and find out what colour they are now.
