Before vanishing into the nut box. The lid lifts up, and the squirrels have to raise it before they can reach the nuts. However, very often they decide one or two grabbed nuts are not enough and vanish right into the box, sometimes for quite a while.
A trip up here is not complete without seeing Red Squirrels, and I saw plenty but really struggled to get any decent shots of them, which is why I am posting this one on the feeder.
