TAKING A SEAT

Robins have a reputation for being trusting and approaching humans, often being hand fed. Not so, in my garden, the Robins in the garden this year, are certainly not the tamest ones I have had in here.

But this male Blackbird is stupidly tame and confiding, he will quite happily sit less than a foot away from me eating whatever goodies I have put down for him.

I know its the same bird because he has only a single tail feather, he must have lost all the others after an attack by a cat or more likely a Sparrowhawk. Here he is, not too close at the moment, sometimes I can't photograph him, as my camera won't focus that close, sitting on a garden bench.

The rest of todays posts are here....

Well having lost tail feathers from something (as you surmise) but received only goodies from you, he is not perhaps as stupid as you think to cozy up to you. It would be interesting to know if he is as trusting of all humans as he seems to beef you.

Great close-up Mark and a nice problem to have, you'll just ask him to move back a bit!

As Joanne said, he seems to know who to trust and hopefully who not to trust. What terrific focus to show off all his feathers.
