@Cherrill Thank you Cherill, it is native to Eastern Europe, but I haven't been away on holiday. I found this at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), Martin Mere Reserve near to Southport.
@gardencat Thank you Joanne, we do have a variety of ducks around here, but some of them I do have to go and find.
This one is not one of our native species, it is at a Wildfowl Reserve a few miles from here. You would have to go to Eastern Asia to find it in the breeding season, and maybe northern India or China out of breeding season.
@markp Thanks for the background info. I don't see India or China in my immediate future ( or the preserve in England either) so I'm glad I got to enjoy this duck through your shot, at least.
