Where ever you go on the Islands off the West Coast of Scotland you are bound to see one of these ships. May be not as large as this one, the MV Caledonian Isles, that runs from Ardrossan to Brodick on the Isle of Arran.
Although almost every island no matter how small has an airstrip of some sort, even on the beach in places, almost all visitors, food, supplies and fuel arrive on board a Calmac boat.
I haven't posted for a few days, as I have been up to Scotland with the Grandmonsters. This is the boat that brought us on to Arran, heading back over to the mainland.
@redy4et Thank you Elizabeth, yes it is a passenger and car ferry. It also takes full sized lorries.
I think it is one of the largest of Calmac's fleet. It can take a 1,000 passengers and 110 cars.
