LOCH OF REFLECTIONS by markp

LOCH OF REFLECTIONS

I am not sure of its real name but this is known locally as The Lily Loch, as in the summer there are a large number of Lily Flowers covering the surface. My other album shows a possible resident of here.
If you have the time might be worth viewing large.

lovely.... i must ask do you use photoshop to merge your HDR or do you have photomatix pro? or something else.
Love the colours. Was this easily accessible or high up in those yonder hills? ( my hubby like the hill walking... he wishes I did too ) lol

@homeschoolmom @cailts @milaniet @elisasaeter Thank you all very much for taking the time to view and for leaving your wonderful comments and Favs.

@abimagery Thank you very much Ann, right okay the HDR, I use something else. My camera, a Sony Alpha 77 is a very clever little box of tricks and amongst other things it is capable of taking and processing HDR shots in colour and B&W in camera. This leaves very little post processing to be done. You can play with the settings in camera to adjust the shot, sometimes it does surprise me with its take on the picture, sometimes it produces really nice effects and other times it is really garish. It will also if there not a lot of detail, say a big plain sky, try and put in detail that is not there, it takes a bit of getting used to, but I am understanding how to get the best out of it now.

You have probably been very close to the Loch without knowing. It is called Lochan Mor. Quick route. Take the Ski Road out of Aviemore, shortly you come to the Rothiemurcus centre with the shops, bet you have been there. Just after this is a turn on the right, signed Blackpark and Tullochgrue, go up there and you will see a small building on the left, a water treatment place, just after this you will see a footpath on your right. Take this and it will bring you to Lochan Mor, continue on past and you will get to Milton Cottage and the small road that takes you up to Loch an Eilein. Think you will know this wonderful place. If not, it is worth visiting, you will find details at www.rothiemurchus.net

@markp oh clever camera! I manually do HDR with photoshop and have tried a trial of photomatix but have not bought it although I often think I may. it gives different effects to the settings I have saved in photoshop. I found an easy peasy way of changing camera to taking the 3 shots without saving it in a setting.

Ah, the sony Alpha 77...almost bought this to replace my old alpha 100 but ended up with the canon 5D mkII instead for a few reasons...still regret some of the features I gave up by not getting the a77. I've been working my way backwards through this album and I'm loving your shots of Scotland.

Thank you very much Joanne, I think it is a great camera. When I was looking for a new camera I looked at the Cannon 7D, which seemed quite a nice camera but noticed that it was about 3 years old without an update, which I thought was a bit old given the speed of advances in technology these days. I did a lot more research and decided on the Alpha 77. I went to a camera store that was offering the best price on it, with cash to buy it, I just wanted to basically see it in my hand. I asked to see one, salesman quite happy to oblige. He asked why I wanted the Sony, so I told him and happened to mention that it was the Sony or the Cannon 7D, but had settled on the Sony. Then he started on basically a rant on about how good the Cannon was, he had had one for years, ( my point), and it great. No matter what I said, he seemed to be saying I was a stark raving lunatic to be wasting my money on the Sony. I asked if they also had the zoom lens to go with the kit lens, yes, so asked him how much the whole lot was. He told me so I took the money out of my pocket, counted out the total, and then told him I had gone in there to buy the Sony and then said " But you have just talked yourself out of a sale " and turned round and walked out before he could say a word. Went home and bought it on-line for the same price but with interest free credit.
I don't think it was anything to do with which was the better camera, I think he got more commission on the Cannon.
