PICKING AT HIS FOOD by markp

PICKING AT HIS FOOD

I watched this Treecreeper for a while as he made his way up the tree digging and probing with his beak under the bark and lichen for bugs and grubs. He seemed to be doing quite well, finding plenty of stuff to keep him going. Another bird in my other album.

Fantastic capture of the texture of the tree, the beautiful design of the bird, and the background bokeh. That spells fav for me!

What a great shot, I've never seen a Tree creep before, are they wide spread?

@bri1066 Thank you very much Brian, yes they are fairly widespread, anywhere really were there are mature trees. They fly down to the base of a tree and work their way up, looking like a little mouse running up and then flying down to the next tree. Once you have seen them this behaviour makes them quite easy to identify even from a distance. In the winter they often join flocks of Tits or Finches in woodland and it can be an easy way to look for them.

Great detail on this shot and liked the information abut his habits Your lighting is great - not always easy with birds.
