DEVIL'S-BIT SCABIOUS by markp

DEVIL'S-BIT SCABIOUS

There is a lot of this lovely purple Devil's-bit Scabious ( Succisa pratenis), in flower. It seems to be a magnet for Bees, Hover-Flies, Butterflies and many other insects. There is a Hover-Fly on this one, I think it is a male Epistrophe eligans.
