BETWIXT COUNTRYSIDE AND INDUSTRY

I went canoeing again today. Still on the River Weaver, but the opposite way, towards where it merges with the Manchester Ship Canal.
On my left is a very large area of countryside, bisected by the Manchester Ship Canal.
On my right, part of a huge industrial chemical estate that spreads for literally miles.
The river acts like a peaceful border.

The river looks beautiful but I have to confess the proximity of the chemical plant makes me uneasy.

I once did the Leeds to Liverpool trans-pennine canoe marathon over two days. Good fun, but it was 30 years ago. Lovely calm water. Good shot.

I always admire those brave enough to canoe together with their camera.
