BRIGHT EYES

This is a species of Mosquito, Poecilobthrus nobilitattus. Don't worry though, I won't get bit. Only females bite, and this is a male. Two things indicate that, one the white wing tips, and also look closely and you can see something underneath his body near his tail. To put it delicately, these are his genitals. You learn something new everyday on 365, whether you want to or not.

Watching these can be fun, they appear to use the white tips of their wings like little semaphore flags. I am not sure if it is part of a courtship display or to protect his local patch.
You certainly do learn something new each day on here = Fav for this great shot

You are correct in saying that you learn something new everything time I open up 365 --------- just have to love this place. Super detail and coloring on your MALE friend.

Something new everyday on 365 and also something new almost every time I look at a macro shot. Nice capture, better watch out in case his female friend comes by and wants a donation from you, to help raise their little family.
