A CLASH OF COLOUR

A lovely bright purple Thistle flower provides a colourful background for a Common Red Soldier Beetle Rhagonycha fulva. There are many species of Soldier Beetles in the UK, 41 I think, and although they visit flowers to eat pollen and nectar, they much prefer to eat other insects also visiting the flowers.
