FULMAR - UP CLOSE by markp

FULMAR - UP CLOSE

A Fulmar sitting on its nest, you need to be careful with these, go too close, and they can eject the most horrible oily substance at you. It is a really appalling horrible stink, and is almost impossible to wash out of your clothes.
Fulmars belong to a family of seabirds known as Tubenoses, the small black tube on the the top of its beak is used to allow excess salt it gets from its food to drain away.
Great close up Mark. Good info too!
