This is Ruthven Barracks just outside Kingussie in the Scottish Highlands. It was completed in 1721, and was built on the site of two previous castles, dating back to 1229.
There is an interesting legend about the original castle. It is said that one evening in July 1394 a visitor dressed all in black arrived at Ruthven Castle and challenged Alexander Steward, known as the Wolf of Badenoch to a game of chess. By the morning no-one was left alive in the castle, for such was the perils of playing chess with the Devil.
It's said if it's really quiet and getting dark, its possible to see ghostly chess players wandering around.
