This is Kirkwall's RNLI Margaret Foster, it is a Severn Class Lifeboat, the largest used by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute. It is needed up here as the waters around the Orkney's can be some of the wildest in the country.
She is named the Margaret Foster after a lady who left a legacy that paid for the cost of the boat.
