It's like an Oscar, only local (Dutch Film Festival) and not really of any importance outside our little country. Which is probably why some winners don't even bother collecting the prize or just let it lying around during the afterparty for which I was invited.
Don't get me wrong. Most people in The Netherlands actually do think it's an important recognition and almost ever actor is very happy winning a Golden Calf. Including the new owner of this particular one, although I'm not really sure who she was :-)

I can't believe they just leave it behind! It's an acting award - I'd be showing it to everyone I know! Mind you, I can't act, so it would be really astounding if I won an award for it, lol.

@pwallis Thanks Paula. Sandra already said it above (in Dutch). The award is quite big and pretty heavy. You can't take it along all evening wearing a beautiful dress and dancing around to the music. Haha, they have no choice and have to put it somewhere or bring it to the cloakroom.
