Failing water line in the east of our country. Failing because the water level of the river Rhine wasn't high enough at the crucial moments. Except for the battle against the French in 1794 when the flooding succeeded, but the water froze and Napoleon marched easily to the other side.
By the time the water line was used again during WOII the Germans simply flew over it...
Both occupiers used the Grebbeline without any succes also. Napoleon was beaten by the Prussians, the Germans by the Canadians.
