St. Brandon sailed from this creek to find the Isles of Blessed. He encountered sea monsters and demons from hell and he lit a fire on an island that turned out to be a whale. And from the local statue it looks like he was legless and blew his own boat forward. He is said to have discovered the blessed land, America of all places, long before Columbus did.
