I collect cars (pictures), as some of you may know by now (see https://365project.org/tags/ccar ). I recently found a number of mutilated specimens, missing their brand name or logo. Of course there are quite a few reasons why these sign could be missing:
- Broken or stolen emblems. This mosly concerns parts that stick out.
- Ripped off after some (minor) accident for example.
- Wear and tear due to old age. Some logos cannot withstand the weather for too many years. Especially Painted logo's fade away pretty fast.
- Car tuning. Some logos have been intentionally removed to make the car look tougher, I suppose.
- And then there are the manufacturing problems. The glue that was used to stick the Citroën logo at the back of the C1 for example is just not very long lasting. I have found four of these cars in just a few days with a half logo and some no longer have the emblem at all. The same goes for a few other brands using the same attachment method.
Here you can see the first few examples, clockwise:
- Volkswagen Caddy
- Citroën C1
- MAN 8.136 f
- Toyota Aygo
