I am on the Mystic Aquarium Marine Animal Rescue Team. This is the time of year that seals, especially baby seals find their way to our shoreline. People call us when they see a seal on the beach. We go out and evaluate and monitor the animal to determine if it just "resting" or is sick or injured. This little one appeared to be healthy and we set up a schedule of team members to watch over her to be sure she wasn't harassed by people, dogs etc. After days of observation it was decided she should be brought to the aquarium for further evaluation and care. I hope the story ends well. It's very exciting to watch them when they are released after receiving successful treatment!
12-31-2014 Just completed my first year of 365! Sincere thanks to my 365 friends and followers for your inspiration and support throughout the year....
Beautiful, interesting animal with an almost-human appeal. Years ago I got a tour of the Marine Mammal Center in Marin County, California. It was one of those days I will never forget.
Had to come see a closer view of this precious creature. Having read what you wrote about her situation, now I'm curious to know how she's doing. Will try and check back in in order to find out. Thank you for your part in caring for her.
